Solange + Johnny
Industrial Waterfront Wedding
Solange and Johnny had the most beautiful industrial waterfront wedding that struck the perfect balance of rough textures like brick and gravel with a classic sailcloth tent pitched alongside the Plymouth coastline.
I’ll never forget the story of my first phone call with bride to be Solange:
“So, I have a space in mind that I really want to get married at. I just need someone to help my parents visualize the space and see that it can be beautiful.”
My response: “Great! How soon can you show me the space?”
Not a week later, I found myself on the coast of Plymouth, at an old warehouse site. The area Solange had in mind was not wedding ready – I remember turning to my colleague and saying “this is a construction project before it can be a wedding project.”
At the end of the walkthrough, Solange turned and excitedly said “so, what do you think?!”
I didn’t want to be negative, but I had to be honest.
“The space is great – it’s a unique site for sure, very industrial and the waterfront is great. BUT – it will take a lot of work.
And so, a lot of work began. It started with clearing the site and creating a tent pad. Then determining placement for tents, ceremony, catering tents, restroom trailers, parking and cocktail hour. We razed land, dropped crushed shell, mapped out areas and designated zones.
When the wedding day came, we laughed, cried tears of happiness, danced and celebrated. The Chef’s Table served the cocktails and dinner. Night Rhythm kept guests on the dance floor all night long, and had no problem letting our father of the groom take the spotlight for a musical number. Atent for Rent set up our beautiful, sailcloth tent and flooring system, and provided all the rentals to finish the transformation of the space. Tia’s of Boston took our couple’s vision and made it all come together with a harmony of bud vase centerpieces and the most beautiful sunflower bridal bouquet we’ve ever seen. Thankfully, we had The Spragues on hand the entire day to document every detail.
Y’all… we even had fireworks. Literally, there were fireworks.
