Matt + Michael chose a Shalin Liu Performance Center wedding with what could be one of the most impressive backdrops to a wedding ceremony. The view was spectacular, but the energy of the day was equally impressive! Matt + Michael exchanged their vows at the Rockport Music Center, surrounded by friends, family, and the Atlantic Ocean.

Being a planner himself, Matt knew he could handle most of the planning and coordinating for the wedding, but also knew that as a groom, he could benefit from an objective viewpoint. That’s when his colleague and former Contagious client, Gina, stepped in and put him in touch with me. You may remember Gina (and Jeff) from their Commander’s Mansion wedding in Watertown.

When I first met Matt + Michael, we talked about their only goal for the wedding was to have a good time and to make sure their guests also enjoyed themselves. I think the photos speak for themselves – everyone had a blast at this wedding, including the Contagious team. We were especially impressed with Matt + Michael’s wedding party, all of whom kept the energy high throughout the evening until the very end. Matt’s cousin, a DJ at 617 Weddings, certainly played a large part in keeping everyone on the dance floor.

The flowers were done by members of the wedding party – and they were beautiful. The blooms were handpicked a couple days before the wedding: I met with Michael and their wedding party member turned lead floral designer at the flower market. I love taking clients to the flower market, it’s always fun to see the creative wheels of my clients turn and let’s face it – the flower market is an exciting place!

There were so many special moments we were honored to witness: Matt + Michael wrote their own vows and it was incredible to watch that moment with the ocean as the backdrop and a theater full of their closest friends and family. During cocktail hour, Matt coordinated with the photographer, Rebecca K. Gutwin, to have their entire family photographed on stage with them – that was a really cool thing to see! We also especially loved witnessing Matt dance with his mother – it was such a special, real moment – an incredible honor to be able to witness it.
