Carlie + Febo

Maine Waterfront Wedding

Kittery Point, Maine

To say we had such a great time working alongside Carlie, Febo, and Carlie’s parents, Bill and Cathy would be an understatement. The love they have for each other is so clearly evident, but the amount of energy they share between them is indescribable. They bring that energy with them wherever they go. I knew from our first meeting that their waterfront Maine wedding would be nothing but spectacular.

Over the course of a year, we were able to plan the most amazing wedding in Carlie’s parents’ backyard. From the outset, Carlie and Febo made it very clear that although they would be in the company of nearly 300 guests, they wanted their wedding to feel special, intimate and personal. So, I set out learning more about Carlie and Febo so I could design a wedding true to them.

I have to say, it wasn’t hard. Artists themselves, Carlie and Febo had a clear vision of what they wanted on most things – so we started with what they knew they wanted. I scheduled a visit at the Party Rental LTD Boston Showroom so they could show me the chairs and tables they envisioned, and then we played around with different china options. Ultimately, they settled on two beautiful patterns that became the inspiration for many other design elements of their day – first, their stationery suite, designed by Kate Yenrick Design, which included the intricate stripes inspired by their dinner plates, and the long garland they imagined on their tables. The invitation suite then inspired their cake design, which was flawlessly executed by Soul Cake. In fact, Carlie & Febo’s wedding cake was featured in Modern Luxury Weddings Magazine!

Carlie & Febo exchanged vows in a friend’s backyard, just a mile down the road from where the reception was held. We created an intimate space by bringing in reclaimed church pews – we were so excited to welcome P.E.W.S. to the northeast! Carlie walked the aisle with her dad to a modified, slow version of Beyoncé’s Halo performed by Élan Artists’ The Social; it was nothing short of perfect. The florals by Forêt Design Studio were the perfect accompaniment to the setting.

After vows, it was time for the reception! Guests were transported to the reception tent – a beautiful, grand sailcloth tent on full hardwood flooring by Sperry Tents Seacoast. The running theme in the reception space (other than beautiful florals and amazing food by Lavishly Dunn) was art: the guest book was a paint-by-number mural, composed of several canvases. Guests were given custom-mixed paint and an apron, and guided by a duo of artists who helped create the custom guest book for Carlie and Febo to hang in their home once painted by their guests. Artwork created by some of Carlie and Febo’s close friends was installed around a lounge area at the entryway.

Guests danced the night away, after receiving a group salsa lesson from the groom himself. We were so fortunate to have Cambria Grace Photography and Waves Media on hand to capture the day!
