Jared + Ian

Bastille Kitchen Wedding

Boston, Massachusetts

We had an awesome experience planning Jared + Ian’s Bastille Kitchen wedding: from the moment I met them I knew that they were not going to compromise their style and vision for their wedding day. That tenacity is something that I admire about couples who take on the brunt of the planning like Jared + Ian did – hiring Contagious Events to join them on their wedding day as their month of coordinator – it’s easy to get lost in the details and millions of ideas when it comes to wedding styling and design. But from the beginning, Jared + Ian wanted to keep things simple and focus on keeping the environment fun and all about celebrating their relationship, love for one another, and the support of their friends and family.

Paul Specht was on hand to document the day. Bastille Kitchen hosted us in a private room and kept everyone well-fed. We also worked with Jared + Ian on a wedding surprise for their guests: doughnuts! Originally we had planned on stacking the doughnuts on platters, but once we decided on Blackbird Doughnuts, we knew we couldn’t ruin their work by stacking their works of dough-art on top of one another – so instead, we set out to build a custom Doughnut Wall!

Jared + Ian wanted to make sure the doughnuts were a surprise, so we worked with our carpenter to create a wall that we could set up, secretly, in the back and roll out (yes, roll… that 8′ long and 6′ high doughnut wall is on wheels!) the wall at exactly the right time. The surprise was a welcomed one: as soon as we rolled it out, we got applause from all the guests!
