Incorporate an Anniversary Dance into Your Wedding

The bouquet toss is an age old tradition that many look forward to. Tossing a gorgeous bouquet to a crowd of single ladies at your wedding can seem like great fun, but it’s not for everyone. If the idea of tossing your blooms in the air isn’t quite what you have in mind for your wedding, consider the anniversary dance.

Your wedding day is a day filled with love and happiness. You can veer away from singling out guests who aren’t in a relationship, and instead focus on the love that has lasted through the years, by incorporating an anniversary dance into your big day. Here at Contagious Events, we believe that a wedding should be enjoyable for everyone, and focus on the good. That’s why we love the anniversary dance!

Here are a few tips to help you incorporate an anniversary dance into your wedding:

An anniversary dance explained.
Referred to as a bouquet dance, an anniversary dance tends to allow you and your guests to focus on love lasting, rather than bringing attention to those who haven’t found love yet. Instead of gathering all of the single guests to catch a bouquet, you will gather your married guests for a dance. Your DJ begins playing upbeat music to keep everyone in high spirits, and the married couples will begin dancing. After the couples have been dancing for a few minutes or so, your DJ will ask those who have been married for five years or less, to leave the dance floor. After a few more minutes of dancing, your DJ will ask those who have been married for ten years or less to leave the dance floor. This will continue until the couple who has been married the longest is left standing, or dancing if you will. The couple that makes it to the end has won the bouquet.
Keep your guests involved.
Your day is all about the bond of marriage, and you can continue to celebrate that bond within your big day by incorporating an anniversary dance. The bouquet toss celebrates the possibility of becoming married for your single guests, whereas the anniversary dance celebrates the reality of a strong marriage. Which do you believe is a better representation of your big day?
What we offer at Contagious Events.
We offer a modified version of the bouquet dance. We believe that every guest should be involved within the wedding activities. With our modified dance, we aim to do just that. Instead of asking those couples who aren’t married yet to return to their seats, we ask them to join in on the festivities. They are asked to form a circle around those married couples dancing. Once the couple that has been married the longest is left dancing, they will be awarded the bouquet. But, that’s not all. As an additional prize, this couple will have the opportunity to share the marriage wisdom with the newlywed couple. After all, haven’t they earned it?

A wedding is a positive and loving event where marriage is celebrated. You can continue this celebration with an anniversary dance that keeps all of your guests involved. Here at Contagious Events, we want to help you create your dream wedding, paired with the perfect wedding traditions to make your day memorable.
